MT. KENYA NELION & BATAIN TECHNICAL CLIMB AND TREK

JUNE 24 - JULY 4TH  2010
From the tropical city of Nairobi to the grand twin summit's of Mt Kenya, this is an expedition to remember. A slow trek up the eastern side of the Mountain on the Chogoria Route in Mt. Kenya National Park to acclimatise to the altitude on Mt Kenya. We complete a full circuit of the peaks and summit Pt Lenana 4985m & Pt John before we tackle the technical routes up Nelion 5188m and Batian 5199m above sea level. This is a technical rock climb and the challenge of this mountain that straddles the equator is not to be taken lightly. Sheer rock, awesome exposure, high altitude tarns, equatorial glaciers and unbelievable scenery!

Pick up at Kilimanjaro airport & welcome dinner.

Travel north through Tanzania to Kenya to explore the Laviathan, the longest Lava tube cave in Africa
or
Pick up at Nairobi & transfer through to Chogoria near Mt Kenya National Park.

We start our ascent of point Lenana, Nelion and Batian summit & exit Mt Kenya National Park.

Heading S. West from the equator travelling to Aberdare Nat Park for R&R and Game Viewing.

Hellsgate one of the most famed climbing spots in Kenya 2 nights.

Drop off in Nairobi (Kenya) and Arusha (Tanzania)

Pick up in Blantyre or Lilongwe and Transfer to Cape McClear on the Southern end of Lake Malawi

Kayak out to Dombwe Island, the largest Island in this freshwater lake, pristine water and unspoiled Island vegetation

ACTIVITY AND LEISURE
Rock climbing on the boulders, hiking up to the Islands highest point 400m, kayaking or Snorkelling around the Island to discover the beautiful tropical freshwater fish.

Kayak back to Cape McClear
Transfer to Mt Mulanje National Park, the highest mountain in Malawi
Hike or climb on Mt Mulanje

Transfer to Blantyre or Lilongwe
