WHEN TO GO

ALL YEAR ROUND - Garden Route weather is temperate, slightly higher rainfall in autumn & spring, mild temperatures with many micro climates created by the coastal weather in the South and the Mountain weather in the North.

SPRING

September, October, Mid November

Cool temperatures, crystal clear days interspersed with heavy rain falls, be prepared for 4 seasons in a day, take it as it comes because the garden route is flowering!.

SUMMER

End of November to March - possibly even April

High day temps, often in the 30's warm clear nights. Driest season in the Western Cape. Beach weather!

AUTUMN

April, May

Fairly stable crisp weather, some rains, normally beautiful hiking weather, not too hot, a little crisp in the mornings, clear night skies.

WINTER

June to end of August - maybe even September

Possible snow on the Cape Fold mountains which cause pretty chilly winds down at the coast, some frosts but still clear days are frequent. Night temps around 5-8 deg C, Day temps up 15 - 20 deg C

ON TRAIL IN THE CAPE

The terrain varies from miles of snow white beach dipping gently into azure ocean, to dramatic coastal cliffs where waves pound against the burnt orange rock, impenetrable depths of ancient forest give way to vast areas of Fynbos - our indigenous Cape floral heritage. Our rivers here are brown, not murky, muddy brown, but tannin stained and yet crystal clear as they flow over white pebbles, you'll have to come for a walk or a paddle to see what we mean!
